United move for former Chelsea midfielder

Newcastle United are planning a move for former Chelsea midfielder Tiago. The Juventus midfielder is likely to leave the Serie A giants this summer after falling out of favour with manager Claudio Ranieiri.

The Portguese international is nearing a one-year loan deal to St James’ Park with a view to a £8 permanent move after that. The 27-year old spent just a season at Chelsea under manager Jose Mourinho and won a Premier League title during his time at Stamford Bridge.

I personally believe Tiago is a very good player who would benefit Kevin Keegan’s side immensely. Tottenham were apparently interested in signing the former Lyon man last January but for whatever reason he didn’t move to White Hart Lane, but I am full sure he will prove to be a good signing for the Magpies.

Spurs, United and Chelsea to miss out on £30 million striker

Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea are to miss out on Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o after the Spanish giants confirmed he is staying at the club. The Cameroon international had been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League after Barca boss Pep Guardiola told Eto’o he was surplus to requirements at the club.

Eto’o is valued at the £30 million and it was thought that a move to England was likely but Barca said on their official website: “Josep Guardiola has explained in the press conference for the game against Wisla Krakow that Samuel Eto’o will continue one more season as an azulgrana (Barca player). “The azulgrana coach has announced that it is a decision taken, ‘by the desire of the player and by myself.’”

I personally would of loved to see a top player like Eto’o playing in the Premier League this season. He is a superb striker that any manager would love to have in their squad and I feel he would of been a terrific asset to any side in question. Ah well, maybe he’ll come next year.

United make move for Liverpool target

Manchester United have today made an unsuccessful move for Liverpool target David Silva. The Valencia striker has been linked with several moves to the Premier League after some superb displays for a victorious Spanish side in the European Championships.

Silva, 22, has been a long-term target of Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez but with Sir Alex Ferguson’s problems in the striking department it comes as no surprise to see him move for the Spaniard. Silva is more than likely to leave the Mestalla this summer after the club revealed they are in financial difficulties.

Silva’s agent Julio Llorente said: “United made an offer for David Silva, but this has been turned down by Valencia.” I feel Silva would be a magnificent signing for United. It is likely that United will have to bid at least £20 million to force Valencia to sell and I think that is a fair price for a promising young player like Silva.
