Fulham have completed the signing of defender Fredrik Stoor from Rosenborg.

The 24-year-old, who played for Sweden at Euro 2008, has signed a four-year deal with the Cottagers and joined for an undisclosed fee.

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson told the club’s website: “Fredrik is a player I have followed for some time through my contacts with the Sweden team.

“I watched him closely with his club side and we did a lot of research on him. I am delighted he has joined us.”

Stoor has won eight Sweden caps, with the most recent of them coming in the European Championship.

Hodgson added: “I had the opportunity to see him at close hand in the three matches that Sweden played in Euro 2008 and we decided that this was the player for us at right-back.

“Certainly with John Pantsil and Fredrik Stoor we have excellent cover for that position for the coming season.”

Pantsil joined from West Ham earlier in the summer, along with Bobby Zamora, as part of a £6.3m deal.

Fulham are also expected to sign striker Andrew Johnson from Everton in the near future after agreeing an eight-figure fee for the England international.

Last week Stoor said he was looking forward to playing in Hodgson’s side.

“This is very exciting and feels like a great challenge,” he told Expressen newspaper last week.

“This is the toughest league in the world. It will be hard but I have the chance of becoming a regular.”

Stoor has become Hodgson’s eighth capture of the summer following the signings of Mark Schwarzer, Andranik Teymourian, Zoltan Gera, David Stockdale, Toni Kallio and West Ham pair Zamora and Pantsil.

Bentley closes in on Spurs switch

Blackburn’s David Bentley looks set to become a Tottenham player after having a medical with the club on Wednesday.

Spurs have made another bid closer to Rovers’ £18m valuation of the England winger after previous offers from the club, and Aston Villa, were rejected.

Bentley, 23, joined Rovers in 2006 and extended his contract last year but has made it clear he wants to move on.

Former club Arsenal are expected to receive a portion of the fee as part of the deal which took him to Ewood Park.

Spurs, who won the Carling Cup last season but finished a disappointing 11th in the Premier League, have scheduled a press conference at 10 am on Thursday at their Chigwell training ground with Bentley expected to attend.

Should the transfer go through, he is expected to travel to Holland this weekend with his new team-mates to be part of Spurs’ pre-season preparations at the Feyenoord Jubileum Tournament.

In his time at Blackburn, Bentley has scored 13 goals in 102 Premier League games and won six England caps.

His signing would be a welcome boost for Tottenham fans after Robbie Keane’s £20.3m move to Liverpool.

There have been rumours that Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov could also be on his way out of White Hart Lane, with Manchester United confirmed admirers.

Russia forward Andrei Arshavin, Argentine striker Diego Milito and Valencia’s David Villa have also all been linked with Spurs this summer.

Liverpool Finally Agree Fee For Barry - Report

gareth-barry

The latest reports form England suggest that Liverpool and Aston Villa have finally managed to reach a deal over England International Gareth Barry.

According to a Daily Mail ‘Insider Exclusive’, the Villans have accepted a £19million offer from Liverpool for their captain, which also includes them receiving the services of Steve Finnan.  Martin O’Neill’s side will receive £17.5million in cash and a further £1.5million in the form of the Republic of Ireland full-back, therefore.

Barry has been at the heart of a bitter struggle between Aston Villa and Liverpool since the very beginning of the summer, which now appears to have reached the conclusion which seemed almost inevitible since the start of the saga.

Liverpool clearly mean business in their bid to finally get their hands back on the English title, as the deal, should it be confirmed, follows right on the heels of the successful acquisition of Robbie Keane from Tottenham Hotspur.

This is in addition to the already confirmed arrivals of Andrea Dossena (Udinese),  Philipp Deggen (Borussia Dortmund), David Ngog (Paris St Germain), Emmanuel Mendy (Murcia Deportivo), Diego Cavalieri (Palmeiras) and Vincent Lucas Weijl (AZ Alkmaar).
