Erding Going Nowhere - Sochaux

Dutch giants PSV were interested in signing Sochaux starlet Mevlut Erding, but Sochaux have made it clear the Turkish international is going nowhere.

It seems as though Jeremie Brechet and Mevlut Erding won’t be reunited. Brechet made the move from Sochaux to PSV earlier this transfer window, but Erding isn’t following him and Sochaux are not willing to let him go.

‘He’s a very interesting player for us’, confirms technical director Adrie van Kraaij in AD Sportwereld today. ‘We’d love to add him to our squad. However, Sochaux won’t allow him to leave’.

The 21-year-old Turkish international was last year’s topscorer at the Montbéliard outfit with eleven goals in 29 league appearances. The lightweight player also participated for Turkey on Euro 2008.

PSV are forced to look somewhere else because of the reluctance of Sochaux to let one of their star players go. Reportedly PSV already made an offer on someone else, but refuse to disclose further information about the identity of their mystery man.

The Eindhoven side are looking for a replacement for Peruvian hit-man Jefferson Farfan, who has signed for Schalke’04. The Eindhoven side have only two strikers left in Danny Koevermans and Danko Lazovic.

“I have experienced playing in big matches, both for Rosenborg and the national team, but now I will get the chance to experience playing in big matches every weekend.”

Stoor, 24, was a part of the Swedish squad that helped the country qualify for the European Championships and is obviously highly rated by Fulham boss Roy Hodgson.

Van Basten Pleased To Land Oleguer

Marco van Basten admitted that he was delighted to have finally wrapped up a deal with Barcelona for Oleguer Presas and hopes that he will sign for the club this week.

The Catalan defender held talks with the Dutch outfit last week after being recommended by Henk ten Cate, but there was a hold-up and he instead went to Scotland with the Blaugrana.

Now the talks have produced a result and Van Basten confirmed that Oleguer will travel to Amsterdam to undergo a medical today (Monday) and join in their pre-season preparations.

“Danny Blind (Ajax’s technical director) called me late on Friday night to tell me the deal was done,” Van Basten told the club’s website.

“That was good news. It is no secret that we are looking for a central defender. I am glad we’ve signed Oleguer. His qualities will fit in well at Ajax, we are all convinced of that.

“He is the right age, has experience at a high level and is a real defender. It’s also pleasing to fill a vacant position in pre-season.

“If on Monday the medical goes well, he can go with us to England. That is good for him and good for us. He will get to know the other players easily and start to fit into the team.”

Ajax will host Arsenal, Inter and Sevilla in the annual Amsterdam Tournament next month when they return from a trip to England.
