McCartney signs new West Ham deal

george-mccartney

Northern Ireland defender George McCartney has signed a new five-year contract with West Ham.

Earlier this month, the Hammers turned down a £4.5m offer from Sunderland for the defender.

The 27-year-old full-back joined the Upton Park club from Sunderland in 2006 in a four-year deal worth £1m.

Roy Keane wanted McCartney to return to the Black Cats but the Northern Ireland player made clear his desire to stay at the London club.
