Siena will be fighting against relegation this season, and they lost their seasonal opener 1-0 at Atalanta. They have recovered well since that early defeat, earning four points with a 2-0 win over Cagliari, and a 1-1 draw at Lecce.

Sampdoria started the season well as they held champions Inter to a 1-1 draw in week one. They have not lived up to expectations since then, but with the squad they have at their disposal, they could still be this season’s surprise package. In Serie A they are currently third from bottom after losing at Lazio and then drawing at home against Chievo on Sunday, but a good result against Siena could change all of that.

Inter are finally beginning to impress under Jose Mourinho, following a slow start with a draw against Sampdoria, which then lead to two victories for the defending Italian champions.

Following on from victories over Catania and Panathinaikos in the Champions League, the Nerazzurri were all over their opponents on Sunday afternoon, winning 3-1 at Torino. Lecce were thrashed 3-0 by Torino on the opening weekend, in a game that suggested they may struggle this campaign. They made pundits eat their words by bouncing back in the next round with a fine 2-0 home win against Chievo, but in the most recent game on Sunday they could only draw 1-1 at home to Siena. Inter should not have a tough time crushing their weaker opponents.
